The SmartNail 1.5 mm outer diameter × 25 mm length (Cat. 531525) is a bioresorbable fixation nail made of PLA, designed for small-fragment or osteochondral lesion repair. It uses a 96L/4D self-reinforced polylactic acid copolymer for strong early fixation and gradual resorption. It is supplied sterile and intended for single‐use in minimally invasive or arthroscopic surgery.
This SmartNail system supports effective fixation of small bone fragments or osteochondral lesions by combining initial mechanical strength with eventual bioresorption, removing the need for hardware removal. The 1.5 mm diameter and 25 mm length allow placement in tight anatomical sites and allow minimally invasive access. The self-reinforced 96L/4D PLA material offers high strength and stiffness in early healing phases, while gradually dissolving as the bone heals.
