Conmed 1.5mm Arthroscopic Drill Bit DB1500
The DB1500 is a 1.5 mm diameter arthroscopic drill bit designed for use with the SmartNail system for fixation of osteochondral fragments and non-load bearing bone lesions. It is intended to be used through the arthroscopic tip over a guide wire to prepare the bone fragment tunnel. It is reusable (non-implant) instrumentation, intended for sterilisation and multiple uses.
The 1.5 mm arthroscopic drill bit (DB1500) is engineered to work in conjunction with the SmartNail instrumentation set and implants, facilitating precise tunnel preparation in minimally invasive arthroscopic procedures. According to the SmartNail surgical technique manual, “Using a 1.5 or 2.4 mm diameter SmartNail arthroscopic or percutaneous drill, drill through the fragment and into the solid bone. The drill has sizing depth marks indicating SmartNail length in millimeters.” This ensures that the selected SmartNail implant (for example 1.5 mm O.D. × 16/20/25 mm length) is properly seated at the desired depth. The arthroscopic drill bit allows proper alignment via the handle and tip assembly, promotes controlled drilling depth, and supports efficient workflow in fragment fixation surgeries.
