Ethicon synthetic absorbable coated vicryl plus antibacterial polyglactin 910 with triclosan vp2546
Ethicon Absorbable Coated Vicryl Plus Antibacterial Polyglactin 910 (VP2546) is a synthetic, braided suture coated with triclosan. It supports soft tissue closure in surgical procedures while reducing bacterial presence. The suture dissolves naturally in the body over 56–70 days.
This specialized suture provides reliable wound support with minimal tissue reaction, making it well-suited for general, gastrointestinal, gynecological, and microsurgeries. Its triclosan coating offers broad-spectrum antibacterial activity, significantly inhibiting colonization by Staphylococcus aureus, epidermidis, MRSA, and others Clinical studies show reduced postoperative pain and lower inflammation markers compared to standard Vicryl, thanks to inhibited microbial growth. Despite the antibacterial coating, tensile strength and absorption profile remain consistent with traditional polyglactin 910 sutures
