Conmed 1.5mm Arthroscopic Piston AP1500
The AP1500 is a reusable arthroscopic piston designed for the 1.5 mm dia module of the SmartNail fragment‐fixation system. It interfaces with the SmartNail handle and instrument tip for implant insertion under arthroscopic conditions. Supplied non-sterile (reusable) and intended for multiple uses following sterilisation.
This arthroscopic piston supports precise insertion of the SmartNail bio-resorbable implant by transmitting the advance force from the instrument handle to the implant during insertion. The technique manual describes insertion of the piston into the back of the handle and then light malleting until the implant is fully seated beneath the tissue surface. By providing controlled and aligned force, it helps ensure the implant sits correctly in osteochondral or fragment repair sites using the 1.5 mm SmartNail system, thereby optimising surgical workflow and fixation reliability. The component is reusable, intended for sterilisation between procedures, aligning with SmartNail instrumentation requirements.
